To Smart Growth Supporters:

The Ballston Town Board has completely removed any size cap restriction from the proposed new zoning, going against the wishes of the vast majority of town residents.

Previous to the May 16 board meeting, the proposed zoning included a maximum footprint size of 90,000 square feet in the zoning.  Now, there is no upper size limit.  Instead, the Town Board will consider every project of 90,000 square feet or above on a case by case basis, and could theoretically approve a development of any size.  In addition, not having a specific size cap in the zoning will make it more difficult for the town to successfully defend a decision to refuse a project because it is too large for the town.

This goes squarely against Ray Callanan's 2005 campaign promise to protect Ballston's small town values from big box development)

Please Check out the Flyers below - Protecting Ballston From Big Box Stores was a Key Component to why Supervisor Callanan, Councilman Briaddy and Councilman Farnan were re-elected. Hold the town board to their promises and tell them. No Big Box Stores or Regional Malls in Ballston.
